This pretty blue thistle is endemic to southern Spain and Morocco. It flowers from May to July and is found at an altitude of between 300~1,300 metres.

It flowers from August to October.  It is very poisonous and it has been used as a heart stimulant and diuretic in the past. It can be mistaken for an Asphodelus. This climber is native to Mediterranean Europe, Central Africa and Asia. It can grow to approx. 4 metres and the leaves are very thorny. It flowers (very fragrant) from July to October. I found this beautifully perfumed climber today, 2.10.2015.

This beautiful flower is native to the southern Iberian peninsula, Italy and NW Africa. It flowers from February to May. It was always thought that it came from Peru, but actually the bulbs arrived centuries ago on a ship named Peru! The leaves are linear, 1`4cm wide and 20¬40cms long, and the flowering stem is 15¬40cms tall. They appear to be fairly solitary plants.

This lovely spring bulb is native to the Mediterranean Basin, Turkey, and NW Iran. It grows to a height of 50cms tall and flowers from April to June. It is also called the Narbonne Star of Bethlehem, after the town in France. It is a herbaceous perennial.

Armeria villosa ssp villosa

Armeria villosa ssp villosa

This rare, endemic plant flowers from May~July and is found in the mountains of Tolox and Sierra de las Nieves. It can grow to an height of 35cms and this was photographed at Sierra de las Nieves. The identification was confirmed by a local botanist. It grows at an altitude of between 1,400~1,800 metres.
